Our charity this year will continue to be Kids Food Basket. Their mission statement is "We exist to ensure that children in our community don't go to bed hungry." Kids Food Basket is a hunger relief agency in Grand Rapids that feeds undernourished area school children. These children have been identified as being at risk for not receiving an evening meal at home.
We support KFB in several ways. Every Wednesday during the school year, we send a team of 4-6 volunteers to help pack over 1900 sack suppers at the KFB facility in southwest Grand Rapids. We have provided drivers to deliver the suppers to the schools where they are distributed. We also collect 100% fruit juice boxes at our General meetings and hold various fund raising events.
Kids Food Basket is a wonderful, rewarding opportunity to get involved in our community and help so many children at the same time. Please consider helping us when you join Newcomers.
